Why eating organic is better for you
Organic refers to the way farmers grow and process their food products. A recent study by Newcastle University in the UK confirms that organic farming methods do have a positive impact on health by producing foods with much higher levels of antioxidants and minimal levels of chemical residues (see the British Journal of Nutrition).
Organic producers like A Thousand Trees don't use conventional chemical methods to fertilise and control pests. While our oil is not yet certified, on our farm no herbicides, no pesticides and no glysophates are used. To fertilise and control pests like scale and sooty mould we use products that are all organically certified - emulsified olive oil, Crop Biolife, Protimax.
